From Stlucy
You cannot be strong in your faith if you do not know your faith. Here at St. Lucy Catholic Church, we are committed to teaching the faith. We offer a comprehensive religious education program to help parents raise their children in the Catholic faith. We also have many opportunities for adults to continue their faith formation. This page contains information on all of our programs, as well as registration forms, schedules, and fee information.
Please contact Sandy Gottfredsen in the CCD office at 554-1801 if you require further assistance.

General Guidelines and Expectations for all Religious Education
Attendance
All Religious Education classes must be attended with illness or serious family difficulties being the only exception. No other activities - sports or leisure - should be viewed as more important. Children learn their priorities from the example of adults. If a child misses three consecutive classes or shows any erratic attendance patterns, the parents will be contacted to discuss how to ensure that the child will be able to move on to the next level the following year.
Behavior
It is important that all students do their best to be well-behaved and co-operative. The students are to display and expect fair treatment. Courtesy and respect should be shown at all times. The general guideline is do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Specific rules will be set by the teachers and discussed at the beginning of each year.
Dismissal
Parents and guardians are expected to pickup students on time at the end of Religious Education activities. Parents of first graders should pick up their child at the classroom.
Early dismissal must be accompanied by a note from the parent or the child will not be released.
Emergency & Storm Closing
If a Religious Education activity must be cancelled due to inclement weather or for other emergency reasons an announcement will be made on WRJN radio station and on television Channel 12. If Racine Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, all Religious Education classes will be cancelled.
Adult Confirmation
Classes for adult Catholics who for some reason were never confirmed are held on Wed. evenings from 7:30 - 9:00 PM during Lent. Call the CCD office for more information or to enroll.
RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children is for those children who are past the age of eight years and have never been baptized. This class will guide you and your children to basic knowledge of Catholicism (our beliefs and traditions) along with faith experiences.
Call the CCD office to get more information and check if this is the program for your family.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) prepares Unbaptized individuals to be initiated into the Catholic Church with the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Initiation usually occurs at the Easter Vigil Celebration.
The RCIA also prepares individuals who were baptized in another Christian tradition (i.e. Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, etc.) to be received into full communion of the Catholic Church, through a procession of faith and the reception of the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
The RCIA also prepares individuals who were baptized as infants in the Catholic Church but whom never completed their initiation by receiving the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
The preparation of initiation, reception into full communion, or completion of initiation, will include study of Catholic teachings, doctrine and customs, scripture study, and participation in certain rituals.
Contact the CCD Office for additional details and schedules.
Children’s Church
Children’s church mirrors the worship experience of the larger community that is easy for the children to understand and participate. The children are dismissed from Mass after the Introductory Rite and process to the Conference Room. They will listen to and reflect on the Scripture readings of the day, participate in an activity, and pray for the needs of our world, church and community. The children will then return to the larger assembly at the preparation of the gifts.
Children who have reached the age of (4) and up to and including grade 1 are invited to participate.
Children’s Church takes place during the 10:30 Mass on Sundays. No registration is required for this program. There are no fees.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School takes place annually during the second week in August. Children who are 4 years of age through grade 5 are invited to attend. The program is held during the evening hours, from 6 - 8:30 PM. Each year has a select theme. This year's theme is "High Seas Expedition". VBS this year is scheduled for August 2-6.
